
BIOGRAPHY
Helen Avery is a flautist and pianist living in Bristol.

Helen first started playing the piano in Japan at the age of 5 and the flute in Dubai at the age of 9. She participated in the primary and secondary school orchestras and was also selected to play in the finals of the Young Musician of the Gulf Competition in Bahrain. When she was 16, Helen was awarded a music scholarship for Dean Close School in Cheltenham where she gained her ABRSM Grade 8 in Flute, Piano and Voice. Whilst at Dean Close, she was selected for Chapel Choir, Concert Band, Orchestra and Flute Choir. In Upper Sixth, she became Music Prefect for her boarding house and received the David Lepine Orchestra Prize. For the past 4 years, Helen has attended the Scottish International Flute Summer School, being taught by internationally renowned flautists including Ian Clarke and Wissam Boustany.
In 2015, Helen began her BA Honors Degree in Music at Bath Spa University and majored in flute. Recently graduated, Helen is intending to study for a PGCE in primary music teaching. She has also taken her ABRSM Diploma on the flute receiving a distinction.
